Earth Rise began in 2019 with the simple idea that mountain and environmental storytelling needed a reset

Founded by British filmmaker Matt Maynard, based in Chile since 2014, Earth Rise brings together filmmakers, photographers, producers and writers with roots across South America.

Our award-winning independent documentaries, commissioned films and commercial photography have grown out of time spent in remote landscapes throughout the Andes, Patagonia and Antarctica. We know the lie of the land.

Scientific understanding informs our work. So do lived experience, cultural knowledge and the willingness to reconsider what we thought we knew. Heart-warmingly, imperfect real human beings are at the heart of our narratives.
